    DESCRIPTION: The project provided for the interior renovation of existing space into state-of-the-art research laboratory space at the University’s main campus. The project included selective demolition of both exterior and interior finishes as well as existing mechanical and electrical systems. Renovation work provided for the construction of new laboratory space, an autoclave room and a dedicated environmental control room. Work also included new windows interior wall finishes millwork laboratory casework, lab equipment, an autoclave and associated mechanical and electrical work. Adjacent areas including the busy Dairy Bar maintained operation during the performance of our work.

    DESCRIPTION: The Renovation and Expansion of an existing 1950’s head house building included architectural modifications and the reconfiguration of classrooms and work spaces of approximately 23,558 sq ft. including a chemical storage area and a chemical mixing area with a fume hood. Work also provided new fire suppression, electrical and, mechanical systems to the building, a 6,400 sq ft addition to the south side of the building as well as demolition of one of the existing 4,000 sq ft greenhouses and it’s replacement with a new greenhouse of approximately same size. Renovations to remaining existing greenhouses consisted of: upgrades to automate the opening and closing of the vents, modifications to the roof of one of the greenhouses and an addition of fire suppression sprinklers.

    DESCRIPTION: The project consisted of interior renovations to an existing dining hall area on the 1st floor level of a dormitory on the UCONN campus. The entire space, approximately 8,600 sq ft was gutted and rebuilt as a new catering kitchen servicing other dining facilities on the campus. Exterior loading dock facilities were rebuilt to facilitate the new kitchen operations. Major elements of the work included sitework, demolition, asbestos abatement, concrete, masonry, structural steel, rough & finish carpentry, doors & hardware, interior finishes, foodservice equipment, fire protection sprinklers, plumbing, HVAC and electric.

    DESCRIPTION: Project provided for the transformation of the first floors of the Clarke and Weller centers into 8,000 square feet of modern dining facilities. This $ 1.5 million renovation project included the complete overhaul of an existing dining cafeteria into an updated and modern dining experience. Included in the project were the creations of a new pizza station, stir-fry to order and pasta and salad bars, and a restaurant-style dining area. Concrete floors were repaired, furnish & installation of new upholstered seating , wall sconces, carpet and other flooring finishes, painting, ceilings and other modifications were provided as part of this project.

New construction included a masonry addition to the gym which will provides a stage area for school performances, classroom space as well as a new masonry stair tower.

The Charles Chu Asian Art Reading Room is located inside the Charles E. Shain Library on the main campus of Connecticut College. The space houses exhibition space for the Chu-Griffits Art Collection, books and periodicals on Asian art.

    DESCRIPTION: Project provided for the design and construction of new full service lumber yard and home design center that included a new 29,000 sq ft wholesale and retail facility as well as three support buildings totaling over an additional 14,000 sq ft. The project included the demolition of an existing equipment repair facility and the removal of hazardous and unsuitable materials prior to start of construction. The new buildings were terraced onto the 6 acre site requiring extensive excavation of excess fills, installation of drainage systems and retaining walls.

    DESCRIPTION: This project included the necessary design & approvals for the conversion and renovation of an existing abandoned building previously used as a health/racquet club into a new beer warehouse and distribution center. The existing building consisted of roughly 18,500 square foot footprint with a partial second floor. Proposed site improvements included the construction of a new loading dock, drive-in access and partial reconfiguration of the lower parking area. Interior renovation and conversion of approximately 7,000 square feet of existing 18,500 square foot warehouse into a new keg cooler for this local beer distributor. The project also included new structural support systems, evaporator units, condensing equipment; masonry modifications, insulated metal wall and ceiling panels as well as the installation of a high-speed door system.

Additionally provided under our direction was the replacement of the existing HVAC equipment and electrical MDP.

    DESCRIPTION: The new facility serves as one of the first licensed medicinal marijuana production facilities in the State of Connecticut.This fast-track construction project provided for renovations to approximately 60,000 square foot vacant steel framed and masonry clad manufacturing building. New work included the creation of typical offices, conference space, security offices, restroom & locker rooms as well as introducing ADA access throughout the facility including installation of a new elevator. Major portions of the project provided for production and harvesting areas of product for its pharmaceutical use. These areas included complex temperature and humidity control systems and major electrical components. Complex security systems were introduced including cameras, intrusion detection and access control were also provided as part of the work.

    DESCRIPTION: Construction of a new 17,800 square foot truck dealership for one of the area’s leading truck sales franchise. This new Freightliner dealership included many unique features. The building shell was constructed as a pre-engineered building system. The structural and architectural standing seam roof was supplied by Butler Manufacturing. This system allows for an economical solution to the significant clear-span requirements of the showroom portion of the facility. The exterior systems included brick-block masonry, EFIS and insulated metal wall panel. A fifty foot sliding hanger door provided truck access to the expansive showroom area. Interior space consists of a main sales floor area, fire-truck sales area, vendor gear sales shop and a small restaurant / coffee shop. Administrative areas were located on both the first and second floor. The second floor administrative offices, which were located on each side of the large showroom, are connected via an architectural bridge.

The project involved selective interior and exterior demolition of existing space, rework of existing exterior masonry walls, new exterior doors and frames, complete interior fit-out of tenant space including gypsum board partitions, doors and frames, casework and countertops, architectural specialties and equipment, and floor, wall and ceiling finishes. New plumbing, fire protection, medical gas, mechanical and electrical systems were provided under our direction.

All work was performed while the Aquarium remained open to visitors.

Construction on Phase 1 of the project provided approximately 6,000 sq ft building Worship area. The work included sitework, concrete, steel framing, roofing, siding and interior fit out of the space including all trades. Phase 2 will be completed in the future when the Owner is ready.

    DESCRIPTION: Construction of new 3-story Administrative Building for the VNA of Southeastern Connecticut on an environmentally sensitive property which led to the unique design of the facility. The V-shaped building is constructed of structural steel, bar joists and metal deck. There are bands of curtain wall windows which line the perimeter of each of the three stories of the building. The building’s interior consists of primarily of administrative office space as well as a 150 person conference space located on the first floor.

    DESCRIPTION: New Point of Entry (POE) between the ticketing area and the exhibit spaces for the Connecticut Science Center. This new POE provides a visible, intuitive entry/exit point for visitors while remaining deferential to the surrounding exhibits and architecture. Height and width clearances were designed to be large enough to allow for easy movement of large exhibit pieces. The design also included the replacement of the Founding Donors Wall. The new POE contains flexible electrical/lighting capabilities as well as a heat source near the entrance to augment the existing in-slab radiant heating.

Our work provided for asbestos abatement, select demolition, concrete slab repairs, masonry, steel rooftop equipment supports & miscellaneous metals, millwork, roof patching, doors, frames & hardware, gypsum board walls & metal stud framing, finish flooring, acoustic ceilings, painting, toilet partitions, lockers & wire mesh partitions, signage, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.The East Lyme site included site improvements and a Butler pre-engineered steel canopy structure for a new covered storage and loading ramp area.

Four (4) existing CRAC units were removed and replaced with dual source units as part of the work. Existing fire detection/protection systems were modified to suit the new IT configuration. At the completion of the construction process all new and existing mechanical and electrical systems required formal commissioning and installation of a state-of-the-art Data Center Monitoring System.

The building features an Engagement Skills Trainer (EST) 2000, a SimMan patient simulator for training medical personnel and medic recertification programs and a classroom for training purposes.

The Center includes laboratory research space, classroom and office areas.

    DESCRIPTION: New Construction of an 11,650 sq ft Fire Station with a four-bay apparatus room. Exterior walls are masonry cavity wall construction with contrasting brick veneers. Masonry was used for all interior partitions providing long lasting abuse resistant construction. The roof is framed with economical light gage metal trusses. The interior feature includes sleeping quarters, a full kitchen, physical training room & a mechanical mezzanine accessed by a retractable stair. The apparatus bay includes overhead quick fills for apparatus water supply & a complete vehicle exhaust system with individual drops for each apparatus.

    DESCRIPTION: Construction of four hotel style dormitory buildings connected with covered walks. The barracks construction provided 42 double and single occupancy suites with individual bathrooms and showers with each unit having a direct exit to the outside with a Community Room building included in the construction. This building is located central to the three housing units. The Community Room building included the construction of a glass cupola which produced an attractive appearance while either in the building or outside on the large patio. Each of the four buildings was constructed with masonry, bearing walls, metal trusses and a standing seam roof system.

    DESCRIPTION: New facility that is named after the Medal of Honor recipient, Col. Robert B. Nett. The facility features a meeting hall large enough to accommodate a battalion. The building serves as an assembly area for leadership training classes, general assembly space for officer corps presentations and drill space for the military police. The 6,420 sf facility consists of structural steel, metal stud framing and joists, exterior brick veneer and a standing seam metal roof. The interior space includes offices, a kitchen area and a large meeting room.

    DESCRIPTION: Adaptive re-use of a former industrial manufacturing facility into a new Field Services Building for the Town of East Lyme. The facility houses both the Department of Public Works as well as Park & Recreation functions for the Town. The existing pre-engineered building was gutted and provided with approximately 3,000 sq ft of office & administrative space with mezzanine storage above. The project also included construction of 3 vehicle maintenance bays, including lifts, and 2 vehicle wash bays. The balance of the interior is used for vehicle parking and equipment storage. Replacements of existing mechanical and electrical systems were provided as part of our work.

Roof system is standing seam metal on trusses. Full mechanical and electrical systems are included.

    DESCRIPTION: Demolition of existing transfer station and construction of a new pre-engineered metal transfer station building approximately 3,375 sf with construction of a mezzanine office within the transfer station building and shall contain a bathroom and office. Improvements to the electrical, water service, plumbing and HVAC work were included.

    DESCRIPTION: Provided extensive renovations and additions to the former Teresa Mulvey School, converting the building into the new Town Hall. All administrative functions for a Town Hall were included in the renovations, including conference and meeting rooms, public restrooms, as well as a large multi-purpose room created from the existing gymnasium. A major aspect of the work involved incorporating the services of the town police department into the facility. The building envelope repairs included repairs to the existing masonry shell, cutting of new openings window installations, flashings, repointing, waterproofing and new roof system. Sitework included new drainage, paved surfaces and landscaping.
