Town of Old Saybrook, CT
Town Hall and Recreation Center
Carlin Construction Company was the General Contractor on this unique and complex project, which transformed an existing 28,000 sq ft, 3 story former public school structure dating back to the early 1900’s into a new town hall. One of several aspects of this project was the construction of a 16,000 sq ft matching addition replicating the exterior façade to provide a youth services center. The brick façade of the existing building was cleaned, repaired of leaks and repointed. Existing double hung wood windows were replaced and new floor system installed on the existing original bar joists. In addition to new EPDM roofing installations, the existing slate roofing was removed and replaced with simulated slate shingles, and the existing wood gutters were repaired and lined with copper. The work on this project also included new entrance doors, ADA compliance, selective demolition, a new municipal records storage vault, new finishes including ACT, VCT, new HVAC and Electrical systems including all associated piping and requirements per code. The entire facility was completed more than a month ahead of schedule.
