Mystic Aquarium

Ocean Exploration Center - Titanic Exhibit

Carlin Construction Company served as the Construction Manager for the work that included renovations to various exhibit areas at the Mystic Aquarium, including the Challenge of the Deep Building, and the DSV Turtle. Construction began on this fast-tracked project in January and was completed inside of four months despite winter weather and numerous design changes. Challenge of the Deep work provided for renovations of approximately 6,000 sq ft in the building to accommodate new exhibits, including a simulated engine room commemorating the Titanic and its discovery by Dr. Robert D. Ballard. The project also included a new 4D Theatre. Exterior renovations included relocation of an existing mini-sub weighing approximately 28-tons, a new entrance addition to the Challenge of the Deep Building, and a new entrance bridge for visitor access over the existing pool.
